August 31st -- Made to Worship

“Come, let's worship him and bow down. Let's kneel before the Lord who made us, because he is our God and we are the people he takes care of, the sheep that he tends. Today listen to what he says:” Psalm 95:6-7

Stolen from Brian's Aunty Ellen:
Our Saviour does not require impossibilities of any soul. He expects nothing of His disciples that He is not willing to give them grace and strength to perform.

August 17th -- Anchors Away! (Potluck)

So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of His purpose,   He guaranteed it with an oath, 18 so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. 19 We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, 20 where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:17-20

This inspirational "nugget" once again comes from the "Jesus Calling" app. Yes, it does read a bit new age-y but .. the message is good, yez?

Come to Me continually. I am meant to be the Center of your consciousness, the Anchor of your soul. Your mind will wander from Me, but the question is how far you allow it to wander. An anchor on a short rope lets a boat drift only slightly before the taut line tugs the boat back toward the center. Similarly, as you drift away from Me, My Spirit within you gives a tug, prompting you to re...
turn to Me. As you become increasingly attuned to My Presence, the length of rope on your soul’s Anchor is shortened. You wander only a short distance before feeling that inner tug—telling you to return to your true Center in Me.

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.
—Hebrews 6:19

And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.
—1 John 2:28

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’”

"God means for our souls to be anchored to heaven. He does not want us to bob and drift on the sea of opinion, culture, trend and passion. He wants us to know our position on the coast and be safe from dashing on the rocks. So he has given us an "anchor of the soul" (Hebrews 6:19). It is "sure and steadfast." John Piper, A Godward Life

August 10th -- Blessed are the Slow-Witted?

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.  —James 1:19

I got the following inspirational word from an app called "Jesus Calling" and hope that it will bless you as much as it impressed me...

Watch your words diligently. Words have such great power to bless or to wound. When you speak carelessly or negatively, you damage others as well as yourself. This ability to verbalize is an awesome privilege, granted only to those I created in My image. You need help in wielding this mighty power responsibly.

Though the world applauds quick-witted retorts, My instructions about communication are quite different: Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. Ask My Spirit to help you whenever you speak. I have trained you to pray—“Help me, Holy Spirit”—before answering the phone, and you have seen the benefits of this discipline. Simply apply the same discipline to communicating with people around you. If they are silent, pray before speaking to them. If they are talking, pray before responding. These are split-second prayers, but they put you in touch with My Presence. In this way, your speaking comes under the control of My Spirit. As positive speech patterns replace your negative ones, the increase in your Joy will amaze you.

Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
—Proverbs 12:18

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
—James 1:19

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
—Ephesians 4:29

August 3rd -- In His Time

There is a time for everything,
and everything on earth has its special season.

There is a time to be born
and a time to die.
There is a time to plant
and a time to pull up plants.

There is a time to kill
and a time to heal.
There is a time to destroy
and a time to build.

There is a time to cry
and a time to laugh.
There is a time to be sad
and a time to dance.

There is a time to throw away stones
and a time to gather them.
There is a time to hug
and a time not to hug.

There is a time to look for something
and a time to stop looking for it.
There is a time to keep things
and a time to throw things away.

There is a time to tear apart
and a time to sew together.
There is a time to be silent
and a time to speak.

There is a time to love
and a time to hate.
There is a time for war
and a time for peace.

Ecc 3:1-8

I know, I know... World's longest caption ever, right?
King Solomon was so wise about somethings yet... so foolish in some of his choices. Makes him even more relate-able and human.

Good evening friends!
