Cistern(noun) A tank for storing water

The awesome Marcus M. gets double cool points tonight as he both hosts and leads out at FNF!
Thank you!
Since no one seems to show up anymore until after the sun sets, we'll say that we will eat around 7pm and start the study around 7:45ish. Tonight's bible study is entitled "A thirst not meant to be quenched."

See you tonight!

Coincidentally, I read an awesome little bible study from this BLOG! called "These Cisterns are Making Me Thirsty", and decided to copy and paste it in it's entirety for you dear friends 'cuz it's that good:)

*******
JOHN 4:13
Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
The gift we receive from, and in, Christ is eternally sufficient. It quenches all thirst and is endless in its supply. This is made available, through his grace, to those who call on his name. It is the MOST incredible gift!
It seems so strange that we would ever want anything else. And yet that’s exactly the situation we often find ourselves in. We, in our sinful nature, crave what are temporary solutions to our indelible thirst because, in our minds, they seem somehow more fulfilling. We look to the likes of relationships, wealth, careers, education or even ministry positions to fill our cups.
The issue though isn’t in the relationships themselves. And there is nothing inherently evil about obtaining wealth, succeeding in our careers and having an education. We also know for certain that a desire to serve the church in ministry is beautiful and honorable.
The problem, then, is that if these desires take the place of desiring Christ… If they become our priority and our focus, we will simply find ourselves thirsty once again, looking for another fix.
Christ alone is the source of eternal satisfaction.
Everything outside of Him is but a broken cistern.
 JEREMIAH 2:13
“For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.”
We make for ourselves an imitation, a placebo and move from one to the other aware that none of our attempts hold any real sustenance.
Jesus is all you need. He is, in fact, MORE than enough. This is good news! Let’s seek Jesus Christ above all else.
A church that is getting their fill from Jesus Christ is a church that is truly free, without agenda, to share the love of Christ with those around them. Because we have a ‘spring of water’ within us we can truly be a blessing to our community, a community that desperately needs to see and hear THIS message.
Drinking from any other source may keep us from death, BUT! it is Christ that truly gives us life.

Psalm 37:
24 The Lord makes firm the steps
    of the one who delights in him;
though he may stumble, he will not fall

for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
25 I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
    or their children begging bread.
         26 They are always generous and lend freely;

their children will be a blessing.*******

April 12th -- Yay! The Sabbath!

“Keep the Sabbath day holy.
Don’t pursue your own interests on that day,
but enjoy the Sabbath
and speak of it with delight as the Lord’s holy day.
Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day,
and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly."

From an EGW devotional...
He has conquered self-- the strongest foe man has to meet. The highest evidence of nobility in a Christian is self-control.
... He who can stand unmoved amid a storm of abuse is one of God's heroes...
She who has learned to rule her spirit will rise above the slights, the rebuffs, the annoyances to which we are daily exposed, and these will cease to cast a gloom over her spirit.
... The man or woman who preserves the balance of the mind when tempted to indulge passion, stands higher in the sight of God and heavenly angels than the most renowned general that ever led an army to battle and to victory.
... What young men and women need is Christian heroism. God's word declares that he that ruleth his spirit is better than he that taketh a city. To rule the spirit means to keep self under discipline.... To seek earnestly to bring into their lives the perfection that is seen in the life of the Saviour, so that when Christ shall come, they will be prepared to enter in through the gates into the city of God.
